PAST CONFERENCES > VES 2018HIGHER EDUCATION AUTONOMYTheories, Practices and Lessons for Vietnam
The Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global) and Foreign Trade University are pleased to invite higher education leaders and scholars of all relevant backgrounds, in various specialist areas and at different levels to join us in Hanoi, Vietnam on October 27th2018 for the 1st Vietnam Education Symposium on International Experiences on Higher Education Autonomy. Since 2014, the implementation of autonomy in Vietnamese higher education institutions has achieved several appreciable results such as reducing administrative procedures, increasing the innovation and flexibility in university management system. However, autonomy has not become a driving force for Vietnamese public universities to promote initiatives, improve operational efficiency and enhance their competing capability in a changing education environment. There is still much to be done to achieve an efficient autonomous higher education, especially in finance, personnel, enrollment and asset management aspects. The Conference aims at bringing together international experts and all stakeholders concerned by the higher education in Vietnam - the government, policymakers, institutional leaders, academics, etc. - in order to discuss international practices, experiences and trends in higher education autonomy and their implications for institutional autonomy path in Vietnam. Representatives from World Bank, British Council and foreign embassies will also participate. This is the first edition of the annual Vietnam Education Summit organized by AVSE-Global. We sincerely thank the British Council in Vietnam for their support and contribution of knowledge and finance for this event. FOCUSED THEMES
