PAST CONFERENCES > VES 2021

OVERVIEW

2020 witnesses a global crisis due to pervasive perils that COVID-19 has brought in many respects, including education. In 2021, we are still facing the crisis, addressing issues posed by the situation and drawing lessons for higher education worldwide. Crisis is, in fact, omnipresent in most higher education systems in many countries. Budget cut, privatization, digitalization, massification, and internationalization of higher education have fermented the disequilibrium that leads to chronic crises and eventually requires higher education institutions to initiate changes for survival and development.

Adaptation and reform endeavors by higher education systems have incrementally catalyzed the re-defining of research, teaching, and learning activities and the reconceiving of quality and quality assurance in higher education. Simultaneously, new thinking in leadership and management has contributed to tremendous changes in and reshaping of the higher education landscape. In this context, Vietnam Education Symposium 2021 (VES 2021) has been jointly organized by AVSE Global – EduNet and University of Social Sciences & Humanities, Vietnam National University - Ho Chi Minh, in partnership with Vietnam Journal of Education, Ministry of Education and Training (also see this link for the Vietnamese website). We aim to create an academic space for discussion, research and policy consultation on approaches to crisis adaptation in higher education.
